Who We Are

Freedom Broadcast Group was founded in 2013 by John Brown, a well-respected broadcast professional in the Tri-State area with over 30 years of television industry experience. John began his broadcast career in 1990, with MetroVision Production Group, a New York/New Jersey-based production company with satellite trucks, mobile production hybrid trucks and fly-packs.

The company was built out of an idea John had, while working at MetroVision. His idea was simple; build a boutique production company, specializing in not only remote production services, but production control rooms (PCR’s) to handle both sides of a REMI broadcast, creating a one-stop shop for his clientele. Combining his years of broadcast experience, along with a vision of where the industry was moving, John knew the demand would not only continue to increase, but he could offer a successful option for his clients in the tier-two mid-sized broadcast market.

John launched the company with a single Ku-Band uplink truck, handling transmission backhauls for the Live Nation Concert Series and other sporting events, but remained focused on his goals of becoming a boutique mobile production company. Over the next several years John continued to re-invest his capital into acquiring more trucks and purchasing equipment, such as HD routers, switchers, cameras, EVS replay systems, graphics units, lenses and more.

Today, the company has eight mobile production units, including satellite trucks, 40’ mobile production expando units, hybrid trucks, support trucks and generator units. In addition, the Clifton broadcast facility has four state-of-the-art production control rooms (PCR’s) to handle both National and Regional broadcasts for its clients. The studio facility has over 5,000 sq ft of space, which also includes redundant power, announce rooms, studio facility, crew break room, and a complete MCR. In addition, the facility contains a full truck bay, equipment warehouse and office space..all under one roof.

During the pandemic, Freedom Broadcast Group managed over 300 games for CBS Sports and MSG. Today, the company produces college football and basketball REMI telecasts at the Clifton broadcast facility for the CBS Sports Network, the National Lacrosse League, the Colonial Athletic League, as well as broadcasts for the MLB Network, ESPN and the Food Network. In addition to the REMI facility, Freedom Broadcast Group provides mobile production units, transmission, and full technical crew for many of its clients, achieving the many goals John Brown set forth in his original vision of becoming a boutique broadcast facilities provider.
